  2. While New Orleans East was Hard Hit by Katrina and had its challenges…its future, like that of New Orleans… is ripe with opportunity for transformation as a Future Growth Corridor for the Region.

  3. What Is ENONAC? East New Orleans Neighborhood Advisory Commission(ENONAC) is a state legislated Commission adopted as HB 887 in 2008 and later revised to Act 394.

  4. WHY IS ENONAC UNIQUE? By Louisiana Statue the City of New Orleans is REQUIRED to properly NOTIFY ENONAC of proposed projects for the East New Orleans community, further ENONAC may ADVISE the appropriate governmental bodies in regards to the planning of public and private development.

  5. WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF ENONAC? • Housing, Land Use and Zoning • Approximately 40 hours per month are spent in meetings related to planning, land use and zoning issues. • Promote homeownership • Citizen Participation Plan – Master Plan • Limit incompatible land uses • Encourage quality construction of multi-family dwellings in East New Orleans. • Discourage the concentration of Alcohol Beverage Outlets. • Promote high-quality developments and cutting edge design and landscaping requirements

WHAT ARE BENEFITS OF ENONAC? • Quality of Life – Blight, Litter Abatement and Code Violations • Lobby for the demolition of depilated multifamily complexes. • Assisted the City of New Orleans with identifying and demolishing of various blighted properties. • Neighborhood clean-up initiatives • Code Violation Citation Blitz Strategy • “How To Identify and Report Nuisance Business” petition and infraction letters. • Developed and implemented a blight eradication strategy in collaboration with City of New Orleans Mayor Office and NOLA EAST Clean Sweep

WHAT ARE BENEFITS OF ENONAC’s? • Economic Development • Support, help grow and build the capacity of small businesses in East New Orleans. • Read Corridor Neighborhood Revitalization Project • Green Heart - Planning & Design • Hospital Service District – Methodist Hospital Health, Fitness and Wellness Center. • Lake Forest Plaza Mall Site • Community branding and marketing campaign. • Attracting major retail stores. • Southern Oak Plantation • Lake Forest Charter Elementary School

  10. WHY EAST NEW ORLEANS NEED AN URBAN PLANNER? East New Orleans is the only area where the City Of New Orleans can grow and to avoid haphazard development. An urban planner is essential ……. • For the development growth of East New Orleans (ENO). • To help determine the best uses of land and resources for homes, businesses, and recreation. • Ensure Capital Improvement projects are consistent with the City’s Master Plan. • Interpret maps relating to zoning and planning projects for ENO resident and business. • Serve as the conduit between ENO resident, business and the City Planning Commission in assisting with the understanding in land use/zoning information, zoning, conditional use and administrative permits. • Conduct technical reviews and analysis of development plans and permits for conformance with the East New Orleans regulations in order to advise to the City.

  11. WHY EAST NEW ORLEANS NEED AN URBAN PLANNER? • To monitor development designs and plans • To devise ways for the renovation of dilapidated structures, expansion of East New Orleans and transportation systems. • To Ensure public facilities such as schools and parks are equally distributed in the community. • To find ways to attract industries to communities ultimately creating jobs.
