  2. Project Description • The installation of 14 EVSE’s. • The project was funded through a grant from DOE which was implemented by Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD).

  3. Project Description • The funding requirements were to test the newly commercialized Smart Grid technology. • Functional requirements: to confirm readiness for direct load control, energy monitoring, and interoperability.

  4. Project Information Project completion date: July 2013 Project cost: $236,000 EVSE installation locations: • Parking Lot 1, has 3 units • Parking Structure 1, has 4 units • Parking Structure 2, has 7 units

  5. Project Description continued • Sac State had a requirement to charge a fee for service for each charging event of the EVSE’s. Prerequisites: • This project required development of a Demand Response Management System (DRMS) by SMUD.

  6. Project Description continued Prerequisites continued: • Sac State had to install a new Energy Management Control System (EMCS) • New Electrical Metering equipment with communication capabilities over the campus Ethernet network
