  6. Breakdown Sliding Filament • Breakdown your sliding filament model! • Spaghetti and Cardstock go into the Trash! • Break Down your Long Bone as Well!

  7. Reflex Arc Model Setup Each partnership needs to put together the following clay materials: • 2 Walnut balls of white clay • 1 Walnut size terra cotta • Extrude one tube of blue, pink, and terra cotta clay. • Roll a Marble size ball of orange clay. Wipe hands and surfaces in-between colors!

  8. Build me a Reflex Arc! Using the clay materials you have prepared, build me an example of a reflex arc on your cardstock. Make sure to at least label the five parts of the reflex arc you took notes on in class! We will build the vertebrae and spinal cord together and then you will be on your own! Chapter 11 in your text should be a big help!

Use table 11.7 in your text (p.415) to create your own table describing the characteristics and functions of the 4 principle parts of the brain: • Cerebrum • Diencephalon • Brainstem • Cerebellum 2. After you create your table, use figure 11.15a (p. 402) as a guide and sketch a cross section of the brain labeling these four principle parts.

When: Dec 7-8 (Wed-Th) Overnight Departure: Dec 7th – 7:30 am @ PVHS Itinerary: • Huntsman Cancer Institute • ARUP Blood Labs • Night Activity (Most likely Ice Skating) • Moran Eye Center • TOSH Specialty Hospital Return: Late Thursday Afternoon Cost: $35.00 + Food Money Requirements: Paid HOSA Member ($20 by Wednesday)and Interest; will determine the 12 through lottery system.

  12. Guest Presentation Today! • We will be having a nursing presentation today. Please set up your presentation notes just as you did for the lab presentation!

  13. Lobes of the Cerebral Hemispheres, Cerebellum and Spinal Cord Setup. Please extrude (or roll) the following clay pieces for our Wednesday Lesson: • Extrude 1 tube of terra cotta clay (if out of terra cotta you may break down your long bone or use your hamstrings or quads from your maniken) • Extrude 1 tube of blue clay • Roll out 1 tube of green clay to spaghetti length (as if it had been extruded) • Extrude 1 tube of pink clay • Roll out 1 tube of orange clay to spaghetti length (as if it had been extruded)

  14. You will be completing a payday on reflex arcs and the 4 principle parts of the brain at the beginning of next class! This is based on the work we did the week of thanksgiving break (11/21/11) on the first day of this unit.

  17. We will be building the lobes of the brain and other accessory structures on your maniken today. In your lab book, create a table with the following headings: *There will be 9 entries in this table.
