Terminal Learning Objectives (TLO) Action - Discuss the integrating functions and components of AE2S Condition - As a force manager, in a classroom small group setting, using the Army’s Enterprise Equipping System (AE2S), appropriate references, class discussion, personal experience and the current Operational Environment (OE) as influenced by the President, Congress, DOD and the Army. Standard – Demonstrate the ability to navigate AE2S and determine which data set and AE2S component is best for the mission at hand. Evaluation – Practice Exercise & Capstone Case Study

  5. Gov Exec – AFM – 4/1/2000 Origination - The computing center began the project around 1993 with no formal funding. Funding stabilized in 1998 once the program found a sponsor: the deputy chief of staff for operations. Projections - A planning and forecasting tool that's painting big pictures of military forces, now and as many as seven years in the future, for the Army's top operations managers. It's called the Army Flow Model AE2S. COAs - The Flow Model can produce static pictures, such as a portrait of the active-duty Army in 2005 if today's funding trends continue. More usefully, it can generate a series of alternative pictures, showing the impact of alternative funding levels or recruiting strategies or other changes in resources and policies. Consolidation - Until recently, the information that feeds the Flow Model had to be dug out of one or more of the Army's 37 operations databases. The new approach starts with a data warehouse at Army headquarters that compiles the service's major databases in a single repository.

AE2S Vision The Army Equipping Enterprise System (AE2S) is a Headquarters Department of the Army (HQDA) knowledge management system that enables the Army staff to rapidly assess the feasibility, supportability, and affordability of current, programmed, and hypothetical HQDA initiatives by projecting force readiness and cost over time AE2S processes are included in the EE-PEG Cycle and inform other systems during the planning of the current budget years, POM planning, and future planning years AE2S provides an authoritative, analytical and collaborative set of planning and programming tools that seamlessly support the entire ‘Equipping Process’, which includes: requirements determination, funding, procuring, documenting and delivery of new equipment capabilities to the Army.

Using Tabs USING TABS Tabs Sub Tabs • Tabs provide navigation through the models • Each model has several tabs that are color coded • Black – Database selection and Date settings • Gray - Force Structure Header • Blue - Force Structure Detail (this tab only provides Req./Auth. Data) • Green - Logistics Model Output (LOG OH QTY, EQ Readiness Ratings) • Red - Personnel Model Output (PER ASGN QTY, PER Readiness Ratings) • Each Tab has 3 sub tabs: Data, Filter, and Query • The Data tab allows you to select the data you wish to view • The Filter tab allows you to refine your search criteria • The Query tab allows you to review your settings and apply the query • Choices made in the Gray Tabs are carried over to the other tabs • You can move back and forth between tabs, you are not forced to work linearly
