Evoke/Invoke. Evoke means to produce a reaction or response, or to reawaken (as with memories) The aroma of cinnamon bread evoked memories of Christmas mornings at my grandmother’s house. His proposal evoked an angry response from the crowd. Invoke means to appeal to or call forth.
