  5. Legend • Giant Fionn Mac Cumhaill (Finn McCool) built the causeway to walk to Scotland to fight his Scottish enemy Benandonner • He fell asleep before he got to Scotland. When he didn't arrive, the much larger Benandonner crossed the bridge looking for him.Wife of Finn wanted to protect her husband so she laid a blanket over him. Then she said Benandoner he was actually Finn's baby When Benandonner saw the size of the 'infant', he realized how big his father Finn had to be and fled home in terror, destroying the Causeway in case he was followed by Finn.
