BALANCE Both sides of a story are given i.e. give equal opportunities to all parties involved in the story to give their views. PROMINENCE Generally big names make news and so its usually about the president ministers and celebrities

  2. ACCURACY Information used in stories is precise for instance in names, figures and locations. • OBJECTIVITY Stories are written just as they transpired regardless of ones beliefs and values. • PLAGIARISM & ATTRIBUTION Plagiarism is not so prevalent in our conventional newsrooms. Journalists usually give credit and attribute their stories. • LIMITATION OF HARM Where certain information is withheld especially when reporting on juveniles and if it concerns issues of national security.

  3. PRACTICES • CULTURAL & RELIGIOUS SENSITIVITY The practice in Zambia is that certain issues that are considered to be taboo are approached with cautiousness to avoid ‘stepping on peoples toes’. • GENDER Stories concerning gender usually depict females as victims of some form of abuse and males as perpetrators when sometimes the case could be the opposite
