  4. Section 2. Course Description • An introductory course for Engineering and Urban Planning sciences and how they are connected to Science and Technology. • The course provides knowledge about: • engineering and planning concepts, • how to be a good engineer/planner, • the evolution of engineering and urban planning, • the land marks in engineering and planning professions and finally • engineering education and specializations.

  5. Section 3. Objectives This course aims to provide students to explore engineering and urban planning and understand the themes of this science and profession . However, it aims also to help the freshman students of the Faculty of Applied Engineering and Urban Planning to understand the following : Engineering and planning concepts, The profession’s ethics . History of Engineering and Urban Planning, How to be a good engineer/planner, How to study Engineering and Urban Planning, General knowledge about global engineering and planning landmarks and development.

  8. Section 6. : Grading System : Assignments & Project: 30% Midterm exam: 30% Final exam: 40%

  9. Section 7: Class Project Each group of students ( 3 students ) have to prepare and present a paper describing an engineering or urban planning project . The description have to include the following : The project’s name, location, description Main engineering works included in the project Stages of the project : design and implementation Project’s budget Project’s management The due dates for the paper progress : Week 3 : Project choice and approval . Week 4 - 10 : paper preparation . Week 12 : paper handing over. Week 13 - 14 : paper presentation.

  10. Finally : • Our "Introduction to Engineering Program" is interactive. It's guided in part by your interests and questions. You’ll meet faculty members currently employed as professional engineers. • The College of Applied Engineering and Urban planning at the University of Palestine would like to introduce you to the opportunities available in engineering and planning.
