What is digital citizenship? • Digital Citizenship is the concept of following norms of appropriate behavior in regard to technology and the use of technology in society. • The nine major themes of Digital Citizenship are digital access, digital commerce, digital communication, digital etiquette, digital law, digital rights and responsibilities, digital health and wellness, and finally digital security.

  3. Why is digital citizenship important? By teaching about Digital Citizenship, we can teach students to learn, communicate and collaborate using technology in a safe and responsible way.

  4. Why is digital citizenship important? It is also important to teach students the consequences of the irresponsible use of technology, such as job loss and legal ramifications, as well as to teach them how to stay safe on the internet.

  5. Where I started and where I am now Prior to taking this class, I understood the concepts of digital citizenship but not how to teach it in a classroom context. After completing this course, I have increased my pedagogical knowledge about Digital Citizenship, and now feel confident in my ability to teach this concept effectively in the classroom.

  6. What caused the shift? The flexlab project and the discussion resources in Module 3 gave me both knowledge and practice in teaching this concept, especially within the flexlab. The resources I found will help immensely in my future teaching practice, and the creation of the lesson plan allowed me to practice developing an effective lesson on digital citizenship.
