POSITIONS 1 = Pitcher (P) 2 = Catcher (C) 3 = First Baseman (1B) 4 = Second Baseman (2B) 5 = Third Baseman (3B) 6 = Shortstop (SS) 7 = Left Fielder (LF) 8 = Centerfielder (CF) 9 = Right Fielder (RF). BATTER IS ON BASE 1B = Single 2B = Double 3B = Triple HR = Home Run

F8-5 = Out on Tag Up, CF to 3B BATTER IS OUT KS = Strikeout Swinging = Strikeout Looking 6-3 = Groundout, SS to 1B F8 = Fly Out to CF L5 = Line Out to 3B Fo5 = Foul Out to 3B 3U = Unnassisted Play by 1B SB 1-3 = Sacrifice Bunt, P to IB SF 8 = Sacrifice Fly to CF K 8 9 7 6 4 1 5 3 2 Davis Little League--Spring 2004 Questions? andrew@forceofjuly.com Scorekeeping Guide • Was it a HIT or an ERROR (E)? • Would an average player normally have made the play? • Was there a physical mistake made on playing the ball itself? • If BOTH answers are YES, then it’s an ERROR. • (SS vs. 1B – easy digs and all drops are 1B, all others are SS • No team errors—mental mistakes are hits) • Was it a HIT or a FIELDER’S CHOICE (FC)? • FIELDER’S CHOICE if there is an attempt on another runner • HIT if there is indecision on where to go, and NO play is made • Was it a DOUBLE (2B) or a SINGLE (1B) and an advance? • Was there a play on another baserunner? ? • Was there an error on the play before 2B? • Did the batter break stride around first? • If ALL answers are NO, then it’s a DOUBLE (2B). • Was it a STOLEN BASE (SB), WILD PITCH(WP) or PASSED BALL (PB)? • PASSED BALL if catcher should have stopped the pitch. • WILD PITCH if catcher had no play. • All others are counted as a STOLEN BASE. • AFTER EACH • HALF-INNING • Make sure to do the totals (per inning and cumulatively)! • Runs • Hits • Errors • Left on Base (LOB) • Pitches Thrown • AFTER THE GAME • Player Totals • Team Totals Notes • BASIC BATTING STATISTICS • At Bats (AB) = Plate appearances • minus [ BB + HBP + SB + SF + CI ] • Hits = 1B + 2B + 3B + HR • Batting Avg. = Hits / At Bats • On Base Pct. = Hits + BB + HBP + CI / PA • BASIC PITCHING STATISTICS • Earned Run Average (ERA) = • (Earned Runs * 6 / Innings Pitched) • WHIP = BB + HBP + Hits / Innings Pitched
