Background • Strong • Ambitious • Loyal • Skillful • Fought bravely on his behalf in 1403 • Started military training on the age of 10 • born second son of a Muslim family • Birth name was Ma He- Ma meaning horse • Taken as a prisoner by Fu Youde in 1385at the age of 14 • From Yunnan ( Kunyang Province, China)

  3. Voyage Dates • First voyage: 1405 • Second voyage: 1407 • Third voyage: 1409 • Fourth voyage: 1413 • Fifth voyage: 1417 • Sixth voyage: 1421 • Seventh voyage: 1431 • 1433: Died while on the seventh and last voyage of the legendary treasure fleet.
