I am currently attending Towson University to obtain my Masters in Special Education. • I’ve been teaching for four years. • This is my third year at Woodbridge Elementary School teaching Pre-Kindergarten. • Mrs. Spivey and I have worked together for the past two years. • Before Woodbridge Elementary School, I was the director of a childcare center.

  3. Communication • Email: lbosley@bcps.org • School Phone: 410-887-0857 • I am available before school and after school until 3:30 pm; unless we have set up a phone conference. If you call please be patient, I will return your call as soon as I can. • Composition Notebook: We check your child’s notebook each day for completion of homework and nightly reading. If your child has a difficult time in class or your child goes above and beyond we will be writing notes, so feel free to write us one back! • Website: We have started a website! • Ms. Bosley

In each unit several songs and finger plays are taught! If you have any questions regarding these or the words of them please let me know! • When we begin learning the letters and the sounds; your child will learn special songs to remember the sounds these letters make. We will be sending home these songs for your child to practice at home with you! • Gross Motor: • If the weather permits and our class pace, we will be going outside for a few minutes at the end of the day. Your child will also transition from activity to activity through song and dance! • Centers: • Each day your child has centers. Each center has specific skills for your child to build on. Throughout the school year there will be teacher directed centers to build on skills that students need extra assistance and centers for students who need extension on the activity (higher level thinking).

  9. Snack • Just a reminder; THIS IS NOT LUNCH! • Please pack a light snack (See Handbook for More Ideas) • Juice/Water • Carrots, fruit, cheese and crackers. • Since your child only gets about 15 minutes to eat snack, please be cautious of how much you are packing. We will send home whatever your child does not eat. • Be cautious of allergies. We are not a peanut free school however we do not recommend packing peanuts or tree nuts for snack. • PM Pre-K; you have the option to purchase snack from the school. This is the yellow form in your folder. • Questions??

  10. Change of Clothes • Accidents do happen at school! • Please make sure your child has a full change of clothes in their cubby. If possible send the clothes in a zip lock bag with their name on it (if you do not have a bag, I will provide your child one). • The school nurse only has a limited amount of clothes. If your child borrows a pair please wash and send them back as soon as you can! • As the weather changes, please change out your child’s clothes. (I will send home a reminder).

  11. Arrival and Dismissal: Morning Pre-K Arrival • Students have the option of riding the regular school bus to school (it is best if the child has an older sibling). Most parents drop off their child in the parking lot (car rider pick up and drop off). • Students will be lined up in the lobby and a safety will walk students down to the classroom where students will put their notebook and folder in the bin and then come into class. In the beginning of the year we allow parents to walk down and drop of their child in the classroom however we have an “independence day” where students start to walk down independently. Please remember that if you are walking your child down to the room you must stop into the office to get a pass. Dismissal • All students have the option of taking the Pre-Kindergarten bus home from school. We dismiss at 11:10 am out of the side door located to the left of the front entrance. If you plan to have your child ride the bus home; please see Mrs. Murphy in the office. (Just a reminder that you can not change the stop that your child gets off without several days notice and if someone new will be picking up please write a note so that we can let the bus driver know). • Just a reminder, someone must come out to get your student off of the bus! If there is no one there to get your child, he/she will be taken back to school and you will need to have someone come to school to pick he/she up. • If you are picking up your child from school each day please find parking out front of the school (not in the bus loop). If you will be getting your child early from school or someone else will be picking up; please write a note for us to send down the office to verify approval.

  12. Arrival and Dismissal: Afternoon Pre-K Arrival • All students have the option of riding the school bus. Your child will get picked up right at the house; unless the bus can not turn around in your street. This bus is designed specifically for our Pre-Kindergarten class. • If you do not want your child riding the school bus; you have the option to bring your child to school each day. (drop your child off in the front of the school, a teacher will be there to meet you). Dismissal • If your child is from Woodbridge, your child will go home from school how they will during a normal school year. If your child is considered a walker or car rider, you will pick your child up each day or if your child is considered a bus rider, your child will ride the bus home. • All students have the same option of riding the bus home from school. Your child will be dropped off at your house; unless the bus can not turn around in your street. • If you plan on picking up your child; you can find parking on the street and walk up and meet us in the front of the school. Your child must be picked up from me or Mrs. Spivey. • If you would like the bus service, please see Mrs. Murphy in the front office.

  13. Homework • Homework will be sent home monthly. Please initial each time your child completes an activity. At the end of the month we will check the homework and give prizes to students who completed their homework. • It will be glued into your child’s composition notebook. If the homework involves drawing or writing, please complete it in the notebook for the teachers to see! • On occasion, we will be sending home extra practice worksheets! Complete these and send them back the next day for your child to receive a prize. • Book It Reading: This log will be glued into your child’s composition notebook as well. Each time you read a book to your child, a brother or sister does, or each time your child looks at books independently please write down the title and sign your name for credit. At the end of each month your child will receive a “free pizza” and a prize from our prize bin.

  14. Behavior • We are implementing a new behavior system along with the Green, Yellow, and Red behavior chart. • All students start on green everyday. After two warnings a child will move to yellow. If the child continues to not follow directions, is not safe, or does not follow rules; a child moves to red. Each child has the opportunity to move back to green. Hitting, biting, kicking, spitting, and other behaviors that hurt other friends automatically go to red. • 1-2-3 MAGIC (new) • Counting 1, 2, 3, and then “timeout”. No teacher talking. STEP ONE • Encouraging good behavior. Praise, positive reinforcement and charting. STEP TWO • Active listening, shared fun, and class meetings. STEP THREE

  15. Playground • Your child must have one closed toed shoes; preferably tennis shoes. • If your child does not have the proper shoes to go on the playground, they will have to either walk around the playground or play with chalk. • If necessary, please pack a change of shoes in your child’s backpack if they refuse to wear them to school that day.
