Project Goal: Publishing Cultural Contents in addressing our goals to support the management tasks to publish those contents and build successful open services, we identified typical assets to be handled: • Basic Assets (texts, images) • Functional Assets (seat reservation) • Personalized Assets (customer data) • Transactional Assets (ordering and payment) we built a framework for cultural content and asset management, including modern principles of Rich User Experience, end user integration and open interfaces to exchange domain- specific contents

  5. Tools, Methodologies and Processes for Electronic Publishing in the Cultural Market The framework focuses on modern technical solutions for Content Management Issues Workflow Management Issues Availability and Connectivity Issues with emphasis and evaluations of technologies from the Web 2.0

Researched and utilized features include - User-ortiented, user-contributed interfaces for theater and opera content management - Programme and asset availability through RSS feeds for content publishing and distribution - Ticket and reservation services all featured by modern middleware tools and techniques

Web 2.0 technologies for cultural content presentation RUE Web Content Management shall appear as convenient and usable as locally installed software End User Integration Identfying application areas that optimize the knowledge and contributions of the end users (i.e. programme recommender services, ticketing,...) Modern Software Management No sporadic version upgrades but permanent optimization of Web 2.0 codes and services

Agile Programming and XP Concepts used As a demonstration subpart of the framework we provide a glance on the cultural services management tools • Framework supports self-dependent users • Involves experiences and knowledge of many end users (long tail) • Utilizes standard software development tools (bugzilla) • Extends services with Web 2.0 features to employ abovementioned concepts

Multiple application areas identified • CMS for theater and opera event descriptions • CMS for programme details • Facettes of seating, pricing, ordering, paying • Service integration by technical platforms Demonstration on task management within cultural content creation and distribution Open Source task management tools enhanced with technologies from the Web 2.0 -> AJAX for workflow and task management

New tools for emerging application areas Benefits from utilizing Web 2.0 Whilst researching and developing the framework we identified • shift to a new class of internet application • innovation in both technical and practical use of SW Beyond technical innovations, electronic publishing is encouraged to use organizational and sociological aspects and strengths from Web 2.0 • framework development is still ongoing • further use investigated in current and future work • other application domains to follow in the current • research project culturall
