  17. Montair Tablets (Generic Montelukast Sodium Tablets) Montair Tablets During Pregnancy Montelukast Sodium (Montair tablets) has been classified by the US FDA as Pregnancy Category B. Available data from published studies over decades with Montelukast use in pregnant women have not established a drug-associated risk of major birth defects. In animal reproduction studies, no adverse developmental effects were observed with oral administration of montelukast to pregnant rats and rabbits during organogenesis at doses approximately 100 and 110 times, respectively, the maximum recommended human daily oral dose. 18. Montair Tablets (Generic Montelukast Sodium Tablets) Montair Tablets During Pregnancy There are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women. Since animal reproduction studies are not always predictive of human response, Montelukast Sodium (Montair tablets) should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed. During worldwide marketing experience, congenital limb defects have been rarely reported in the offspring of women being treated with Montelukast Sodium (Montair tablets) during pregnancy. Most of these women were also taking other asthma medications during their pregnancy. A causal relationship between these events and Montelukast tablets has not been established.
