Entertainment-a performance that amuses me or MAKES ME FEEL GOOD! -America cares more about Entertainment than we care about Education. -This is evident in “Red Tails,” an EDUCATIONAL MOVIE that had to be SELF FINANCED by George Lucas.

  2. “The Need For Education”THE STORY BEHIND RED TAILS Education vs. Entertainment (1.)This is Black America’s Problem: -We care more about Entertainment than Education. *We buy Jordans for kids who can’t spell Jordan. *We buy video games for kids who can’t conjugate verbs. (2.)This is the Church’s Problem: -We’d rather be entertained than educated!

  3. “The Need For Education”THE STORY BEHIND RED TAILS Body: (Luke 10:38-42) (A.)VS.39 Mary is sitting at Jesus’ feet to hear his word (Education). -VS.40 Martha is cumbered (busy) with much service (trying to Entertain Jesus as a guest). *People who come to church to be educated will see change in life. *People who come to church to be entertained will not see change in life. (B.)VS.40 Martha receives Jesus but is too busy to hear what Jesus has to say. -We want the presence of the master but not the Word of the master.

  4. “The Need For Education”THE STORY BEHIND RED TAILS Body: (Luke 10:38-42) (C.)VS.39 Mary is spending time with Jesus. -VS.40 Martha is working for Jesus and is burned out. *The remedy for church burn out is SPENDING PERSONAL TIME WITH JESUS. (D.)VS.41 Jesus tells Martha that she is troubled about many things. -Martha is troubled because she sees no results in spite of her work for Jesus. *Our lack of results could be because we leave God out of his own work.

  5. “The Need For Education”THE STORY BEHIND RED TAILS Close: (Luke 10:38-42) (1.)VS.42 Jesus says that Mary has chosen what is needful. -When we recognize our need for Jesus, spending time with Jesus is not a problem. (2.)Martha had zeal without knowledge (Romans 10:1-2) because she lacked in spending personal time with the master. -We need more than a YEARNING. *We need some LEARNING with the YEARNING!
