AP = “ ADVANCED PLACEMENT” This is a COLLEGE-LEVEL COURSE BENEFITS: • Prepares a student for the rigor of college • In May, AP Students may take an exam ($92); many colleges grant college credit for specific AP test scores SHOULD I TAKE AN AP COURSE??? • Check pre-requisites; Talk to your teachers and parents • Some AP Courses require a contract, summer assignments or an application. Make sure you want this; read the Course Commitment on the back of your Enrollment Card.

Juniors and Seniors: Take a college class as part of your high school schedule Concurrent Enrollment/CCEN • high school AND college credit • Composition 1 & 2 may replace English 12 • Free tuition for up to 2 courses; Student pays fees and books • CCEN Science taught at JHS • Requires: • Specific ACT/SAT sub-scores and high school GPA • Signed Application(available in the High School Guidance Office)

Dual Enrollment Program: Earn credit in up to 8 college classes at the Glenpool TCC campus CCEN in the South County Collegiate Academy (SCCA) • Transportation and books provided; Discounted fees. • Courses occur during 1st and 2nd hours of the high school schedule • Specific courses are required (see Course Guide for list) • Students must meet all of the CCEN requirements but they will begin enrollment for these courses through the JHS Guidance Office

  35. AP Capstone New Diploma Program Offered by the College Board: Apply critical thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and research skills in a cross-curricular context. Other considerations when choosing your courses: Oklahoma’s Promise • Need-Based Tuition Payment Program for in-state colleges & universities • Income eligibility required • Required GPA/courses (Some Special Education courses not accepted.) NCAA • Division 1 and 2 eligibility requires 16, pre-approved core courses(Not computer technology) and has GPA and ACT requirements. More Information about these programs is in your Course Guide and the JHS College Office Webpage.

  37. Jenks Virtual School -Independent Study courses for self-motivated students -3rd or 4th hour for Tech Students may be required -Maximum of 2-courses On Enrollment Card: Write the correct course number and indicate that it’s an “online” course. -Online, core courses NOT accepted by NCAA-

  38. Honors You May Earn: Distinguished Graduate -Earn a cumulative 3.50 GPA -No semester grade below a C -2 years of the same foreign language -Specific, rigorous courses are required, including an AP Course

  39. Honors You May Earn Distinguished Service Graduate Earn 200 volunteer service hours in high school. Minimum of 25 hours must be through a JHS club or organization

TS = “Teacher (Coach or Sponsor) Signature” Examples: Math, Athletics, Debate, Film, Orchestra, Marketing I have it! = you’ve been pre-approved; Write course on your enrollment card as 1st choice No ‘TS’ = You have to wait for try-out, or for your contract to be approved or prerequisite to be confirmed. List as an ALTERNATE CHOICE on thesame line as the class you want dropped
