Educational goals – Now you should … • understand the challenges involved in commercial sw development • it is not just coding … • be able to select good practices and tools for your future projects • and avoid some unsuitable ones … • have learned many generally useful things • management skills, social skills, presentation skills, writing skills • networking, business thinking, general project work, internationalization

  4. Good practices according to the teams • Iterative development • even more than 3 iterations • Co-located team • much more efficient than distributed work/working alone • Weekly Scrum meetings • Reflection workshops for process improvement • CruiseControl for continuous integration

Problems in projects • Lack of good task and time tracking tools • Google Docs and Trac were quite good solutions • Too much documentation • educational goals • project plan, requirements, test cases & ET charters • quality and project status • reflection (final report) • lighter ways of communication • mind maps? • slide shows/presentations? • Busy/unmotivated team members

Course feedback 76.4115: 6 cr (160h)->project 150h + team/topic setup 10h • Too much work per credit point • not all hours are reported? • difficulties in managing scope and customer’s expectations? • constant stress from the project cannot be measured using hours • Very useful course • Duration of the course • “too long, it should be 2 periods” • “too short, it should be 4 periods” • Very committed and helpful customers • Similar grading by different customers? 76.5158 SEPA: 2cr (53h)->15h SEPA + 25h project work

  7. Evaluation – Final course grade • Total points = PP + I1 + I2 + EES + RESULTS + individual points

  8. Customer compares to the original/updated project goals some compensation if the customer caused problems to the project Mentor compares to typical projects on this course difficulty of the project +/- a few points Evaluation – Project’s results

  9. Final points • Individual points (max +/- 5p) affect the grades within groups
