  1. Does the Strength of Magnets get Doubled If you Use Them Together? The strongest magnetic material is Sintered neodymium magnet that is commercially available today. The chemical formula is Nd2Fe14B and it is largely made of alloy of boron, iron and neodymium. Sintered NdFeB neodymium magnet from Magnet Manufacturer in small size exhibits high magnetic energy product with high coercive forces. Sticking magnets together just means that you are creating a stronger magnetic field by combining the power of two magnets. The combined magnets’ powers will double definitely but to how much power can be acquired by doubling, there are limitations. Know what neodymium magnets are In commercial applications, these magnets are most commonly used and from a special mix of boron, iron and neodymium alloys they are made. In areas where strong are required like cordless phones etc these magnets are usually used. As they have higher coercivity and higher energy, Neodymium magnets are preferred. Why the power does get doubled? Using two Neodymium Magnets on the whole can increase the power of the magnet. This is known as stacking. For example, this magnet will eventually be working as a 10mm diameter by 4mm powered version by adding another with 10mm diameter and 2mm width and using a magnet with 10mm diameter and 2mm width. In arrange of commercial applications, this property is successfully used and it has proved to be very effective. However, there are a few drawbacks as well along with the benefits. In opposite directions, Magnets attract each other. That means with opposite poles together, you will have to place them. The overall power of the magnet is increased. However, a problem is created as well. The total power of the magnet is much lower than expected as opposite poles are placed together.

  2. You will be able to get much more power in your stacked if you can find a way to hold the magnets together or clump them together so that they are aligned with same poles together. To get the best gains from magnet stacking, the cross sectional area has to be increased more than the thickness. However, it will not work if you extend the length more than the diameter of the Industrial Magnet. Power of the magnet is a minimal difference but it which will not help. Commercially to double the power of a simple magnet, large companies do carry out stacking. Most companies prefer to use electro magnets and this is done only for specific occasions though which provide the right amount of attraction. We suggest you be very careful if you are planning on stacking magnets for home use. There have been reports being attracted towards each other and Neodymium is very powerful with so much force that they can pinch body parts in the middle causing crushed fingers and broken bones. With so much force that they may chip and shatter as well, the magnets may strike each other.
