  3. What is communication? In simple words we can say that ““just to convey the message” • If we go in more detail we can say that “ communication is the process of • Transmitting (A B) • & Receiving (B A) Messages.

  4. Effective Communication If some one achieve the desired level of objective through communication , we can say that it is “effective communication”. e.g. If your communication get the proper response from the receiver it means that you effectively conveyed the message.

  5. Know your message • Fear control. • Talk as well as listen. • Always think before you speak. • Believe in your message • Repeat key points. • Find out what your listeners want. Effective communication

  6. Know your message You need to listen, think and formulate your thoughts and ideas before you speak

  7. Fear control - Fear is a mechanism to protect ourselves.- Fear leads to failure.- Fear focuses on the worst thing that can happen.E.g. ( I’ll fail – I’ll forget – I’ll stop breathing )

  8. Tips to Overcome Fear 1)Focus on listener not yourself.2) Focus on message not words.3) Focus on success not alternatives. 4) Make a thorough homework and be clear on your message.5) Avoid negative self-talk.6) Speak from the heart.

  9. Talk as well as listen 1) Allow others to talk.2) Respect the other person’s point of view.3) Concentrate on the conversation.4) Help individuals resolve the problems with patient listening.

  10. Believe in your message When you believe in your message your verbal and non-verbal communications will flow freely with confidence and enthusiasm.

  11. Believe in your message 1) Talk with confidence and conviction.2) Allow your feelings to flow naturally.3) Show your enthusiasm and be yourself. People like uniqueness. 4) Avoid faking it or pretending.

  12. Repeat key points 1) Identify the major points and repeat them.2) Rephrase all major points in different ways.3) diplomatically ask your listeners for feedback.4) Ask questions which clarify your main points.

  13. Find out what your listener want 1) Ask questions, lot of questions.2) Ask open ended questions.3) Rephrase questions to ensured shared understanding.4) offer alternatives, suggestions for the listener to evaluate.5) define terminology to clarify the messages.
