With a wide range of degree programs and courses, a supportive staff, and a vibrant school community, we strive to motivate, educate, and accelerate the growth of our students. Our mission is to create a positive, civil, respectful, safe, and fun environment for all students, while achieving MYP authorization and AdvancEd accreditation. Jackson HS: Celebrations • Highest graduation rate in school history - 84.8% • Highest amount of scholarship dollars in school history; • % of students scoring 3 or higher on AP Exams increased (12% to 19%); • Number of students participating in IB DP and CP has grown each year; • In 2017-18 SIX students earned an Associate’s Degree from AMSC; • More than doubled the # of CTAE Pathway Completers; • Heavy participation in Local & State Academic Competition Winners, including Governor’s Honors, Academic Fairs, and Academic Decathlon; • International Travel (Germany, Galapagos, France); • Substantial growth of our SUNSHINE CLOSET to support students in need; • Instituted a 9th Grade Bridge Program for rising Freshman; • Great growth and success in the athletic, art, and JROTC departments; • Two-time participants in the Schuler Awards (GAHS Musical Theater Competition) Colleges our students are attending include: Harvard, GA Tech, UGA, Emory, Duke, GSU, University of Chicago, GWU, Howard, Tuskegee, LSU, Hampton, Bard, Texas A&M, Agnes Scott, Boston University, KSU, Brandeis, UVA, Savannah State, & many more. Jackson High School Degree Programs & Courses of Study • International Baccalaureate Diploma Program:courses taken in 11th and 12th grade to complete diploma program • International Baccalaureate Career-Related Program:combines two+ IB Diploma Program courses with a complete career-related pathway of study • Early College (Dual Enrollment): attend a public college to earn high school and college credit simultaneously, course fees, books, and fees paid by program. Student must apply and be accepted to college. • On-Level/Honors/Advanced Placement: college level courses available to all students beginning in 9th grade • Ballet and Modern Dance • CTAE Pathways • Robotics Program • Audio-Video Technology • ROTC • 26 Athletic Teams • 50+ Clubs and Organizations (and growing) • Jazz Band, Piano, Guitar, Chorus • And many more!!!

Jackson High School Mark Your Calendars! • February: 8th grade tours of MJHS • March: Counselor visits middle schools for 1st step of course selection • March 11-29: Students who do not live in MJHS attendance zone may access the school choice application at APS website: www.atlantapublicschools.us • April: enrollment opens for Summer Bridge program • May-June: CLUSTER REGISTRATION (If enrollment packet was not turned in to the middle school)

  15. Maynard H. Jackson High School Expectations Dress Code: we are a uniform school. Book Bags: Students are permitted to carry either a CLEAR or SEE-THROUGH MESH BOOK BAG during the day. • Females are permitted a small purse for personal items. Lockers: The locker fee is $5 for the year.
