  1. Sir Isaac Newton

  2. Directions for Students During this webquest, you will be learning about Newton’s Laws of Motion. When you come to a slide, there will be a link for a website to help you. There will also be some questions you will need to answer. If the question is a fill-in-the-blank, please delete the line first and then type your answer. When you answer the questions, please type your response in blue or green font (this makes it easier for your teacher to read your awesome answers). You might also need to change the size of your font to fit your answers on the slide, that’s okay. Make sure to follow the directions carefully and complete all the required questions. Good luck and have fun!

  3. What are Newton’s Laws of Motion? Click to watch an introduction to the three laws of motion, these are same link, use which one works, also it might work to copy link and paste in new tab: https://edpuzzle.com/media/5e8a2bd47fd2ea3f301848ff https://www.yout-ube.com/watch?v=ztt1mVYH6x4&t=70s

  4. First Law of Motion Go to: Laws of Motion 8. The first law says that an object at ________ tends to stay at rest 9. An object in motion tends to stay in motion with the same ___________ and speed 10. Motion cannot change without an _____________ force acting 11. Astronauts tools will _________ when placed in space

  5. Inertia is… http://studyjams.scholastic.com/studyjams/jams/science/forces-and-motion/inertia.htm Friction is… Answer here The video says Newton’s 1st Law is…

  11. First Law of Motion Go to: Forces and Motion: Basics Directions: Click on ‘net force’. Set up a tug-of-war with one blue person and one red person (make them different sizes). Click the boxes: ‘Sum of Forces’ and ‘Values’. Click ‘go’. 12. What happened when you clicked ‘go’? 13. According to Newton’s First Law, why does this happen?

  12. First Law of Motion Go to: Forces and Motion: Basics Directions: Set up a tug-of-war with one blue person and one red person (make them different sizes). Click the boxes: ‘Sum of Forces’ and ‘Values’. Click ‘go’. 14. What people did you use in the tug-of-war? What happened when you clicked ‘go’? 15. According to Newton’s First Law, why does this happen?

  13. Second Law of Motion Go to: Laws of Motion 16. The second law of motion says that the _______________ of an object is directly related to the ____________ of the force 17. If you exert the same force on two objects of different __________, you will get different accelerations 18. The effect on a smaller mass will be ____________ (more noticeable)

  14. Second Law of Motion Go to: Forces and Motion: Basics Directions: Click on ‘acceleration’. Click the ‘masses’ box. Use the right arrows to change the amount of Newtons of force that is being applied. 19. What is the minimum amount of Newtons of force it takes to make the crate move? 20. Next, stack the bucket of water (click and drag) on top of the crate. How many Newtons did it take to get the water and crate moving?

  15. Second Law of Motion 21. What did you learn about the second law of motion from having the robot push the different objects?

  16. Third Law of Motion Go to: Laws of Motion 22. The third law says that for every action, there is an equal and ____________ reaction. 23. Forces are found in _________________ 24. Acting forces encounter other ____________ in the opposite direction

  17. Congratulations! You have completed the Newton’s Laws of Motion Webquest!
