  6. Strategic Plan 2018-2021 Our four (4) areas of focus: • Regulation • Professional Practice and Development • Advocacy and Awareness • Effective Organization and Governance

  7. Regulation • In order to legally practice as an OT, youmust renew registration annually by March 31st at the latest. This is true regardless of original calendar date of registration. • Renewals for membership with NBAOT are done online annually in February and March. When your renewal is completed and approved by the Registrar, you may print your receipt and card through the SPD website.

  8. Regulation… Registration Committee Members: Wendy Hill (Chair), Linda Lacoste, Mireille Leclerc, Rebecca Mackenzie, Cathy Pente (Registrar) and Lilli Ju Lin (Member-at-Large, Regulatory) • New applications were approved by the committee through teleconference and email communication in recent months • Activities completed include NBAOT membership registrations and any follow-up. The committee will continue to follow up on regular and special requests for membership to NBAOT.

Professional Practice and Development… Driving Committee Members: Maura DuLong and Yona Landry (co-chairs), Rob Irwin, Lilli Lin, Sabrina Leigh, Chantal Lortie, Cheryl Taylor and Alison MacAulay • The Role of Occupational Therapists in Driver Assessment, Rehabilitation and Community Mobility in NB can be found on our website at www.nbaot.org. • One-day workshop being developed on the Assessment of Skills Related to Driving for the AGM in June. Professional Practice and Development… Professional Development Committee Members: Debbie LeBreton and Lilli Lin (co-chairs), Kara Reid, Holly Knight, Amy Bustard-McQuade, Sally Duguay, and Sarah Wilby • Possible multi-day workshop in spring 2019: Kinesiotaping • Other possible workshops in 2018-19: Mental Health First Aid for Health Professionals (2-day) and Splinting (1-day) in Fredericton • Looking for new members and host sites!

Professional Practice and Development… Awards Committee Members: Véronique Malenfant (chair), Marie-Pier Chiasson, Renée Doucet, Elise Duguay and Kristen Gaudet • The Award for the Exceptional Preceptor was given to Marie-Pier Chiasson at the last AGM. There was no recipient for the Evalyn Fleiger Award. • We are in need of a new Awards Committee!

  16. Professional Practice and Development… CAOT Citation Award(s) • Nominations for 2019 have been received by NBAOT and recommendations will be forwarded to CAOT in early December. Announcement of winners to follow. NBAOT-COTF Scholarship 2018 • Congratulations to Lisa Flewelling who was awarded the scholarship for her presentations at the American Society for Hand Therapists Conference in Texas Friday, June 7, 2019 in Moncton. Plan to attend!!!!

Advocacy and Awareness Public Relations Committee Members: Patricia Cameron and Shenda Richard • Monthly trivia challenge in our Facebook group to celebrate NBAOT’s 30th Anniversary • New banner and swag designed and purchased • OT Month Facebook challenge to recognize how our members are celebrating and educating others about OT in their workplace. • New members are always welcome!

Advocacy and Awareness… Medavie Health Services NB • In July, the pediatric clinical practice group prepared a letter requesting a meeting with the Dept of Health to discuss the reduction of OT services to children and families across NB • In September, NBAOT met with senior department officials to discuss concerns regarding the move of OTs working in paediatrics away from EMP and to ISD teams • Please be assured these conversations will continue and NBAOT will keep an eye on wait lists for your young clients. 

  20. Advocacy and Awareness… Provincial Election- September 2018 • NBAOT sent a survey to the six political parties with questions addressing a few key issues which affect OTs in NB • The topics included: move of EMP to MHSNB; medically at-risk drivers, and seniors/aging in place • Results…?

  21. Effective Organization and Governance Finance Committee Members: Lilli Ju Lin (Interim Treasurer and Chair), Chanel Losier (President), TBD (President-Elect), Ellen Snider (Executive Director) • The Finance Committee is scheduled to meet every second month by teleconference • There are a variety of tasks depending on the time of year such as review of financial statements, preparation of budgets, review of committee budget submissions and planning for finances related to new strategic plan

  22. What a year! • Revealed our new NBAOT logo  • Monthly OT-related trivia contest on Facebook with prizes • FREE access to CAOT webinars throughout the year • OT Month Contest was won by the Moncton City Hospital OTs. Congratulations!
