Uniform HazMat Permitting Challenges • Currently more than 40 different State HazMat permitting programs — a few in the Northeast • Carriers already meet federal requirements that the State permits are based upon…questionable safety benefit for State permits? • Alliance for Uniform HazMat Transportation Procedures approach needed (MI, NV, OH, OK, WV) • HazMat Title of the House version of the Highway Bill requires States to participate
