  1. Chicory are an invigorating coffee substitute and chicory protects the liver against excessive coffee and alcohol consumption. Chicory is rich in minerals and vitamins which give it a tonic and diuretic effect. The liver is a hard working organ and one of its purposes is to detoxify the body ensuring a healthier younger looking you. Adding some chicory to your daily diet will only benefit you and you can choose to have it in salads, drink it as a tea, or use it as a coffee substitute. Chicory coffee recipe: Dig up the chicory roots during the autumn season. Mince the well washed roots and spread it onto baking trays. Place it in an oven to dry over night at a very low temperature, the same way that you would dry rusks. The low heat preserves all the vitamins and minerals for your benefit. When the minced root is dry grind it in a coffee grinder and store the chicory in airtight containers. You may add it to your regular coffee or you may use it on its own. Test it until you find the perfect blend for you. You can use chicory on its own or in a coffee blend for all your favorite coffees too as well as a replacement in recipes for coffee biscuits and coffee cakes.Chicory coffee crème Brule is a lovely dessert that can be enjoyed during the summer months and a great way to introduce yourself or guests to the flavor of chicory. What does chicory coffee taste like? Chicory coffee has a sweet and nut like smell and to me that is how it tastes too, I find it even delicious without milk or sugar. I have read some reviews about chicory and some people described it a sour and undrinkable, I must honestly say that is not how I have experienced pure chicory. Chicory - A Healthy Coffee Substitute

  2. Chicory is caffeine free and if you are concerned about your caffeine intake or want to reduce your coffee consumption you may seriously consider using chicory by replacing one or two cups of coffee a day with pure chicory. I drink pure chicory instead of coffee late at night while I am doing some work particularly during the winter months to keep me warm, I even add half a teaspoon of ginger fresh or dried to it, because I enjoy the smell of ginger and I have discovered that I do sleep better and feel more rested the next day. Currently no serious side effects of the chicory plant has been mentioned anywhere, this could make it an excellent gift for friends and family or even clients who has never tasted chicory coffee but does enjoy coffee or decaffeinated coffee. You can safely assume that there is no harm in trying this ancient liver tonic and liver protector. click here
