What is it? • A programme designed to improve your outcomes by promoting the health and wellbeing of learners and staff in your organisation. • You build on your current health and wellbeing related activities by taking a coordinated approach. • Partnership with other stakeholders such as the NHS, your local council and wider stakeholders is vital.

  4. Why do it? • Only 40% of men and 28% of women have 30 minutes physical activity at least 5 days a week (that’s the minimum recommendation for adults) • About 37% of deaths from coronary heart disease are due to physical inactivity • There were 8,724 alcohol-related deaths in 2007

  5. Among children of aged 5 –16 years • 9.6 per cent had a clinically recognisable mental disorder • 5.8 per cent had a conduct disorder • 3.7 per cent have emotional disorders, anxiety and depression, • 1.5 per cent had hyperkinetic (hyperactive) disorders
