Beachcomber-2011 Code-Sprint • Beachcomber is a bearer-agnostic framework developed for the Internet of Things phenomenon, which allows devices to become a part of the Internet. • Beachcomber combines various bearer agnostic chatter protocols to allow for easy connection between the Internet of people and the Internet of Things. • Through Beachcomber access is provided through various technologies such as HTTP, XMPP and SMS in addition to things via bar codes, RFID and QR codes. • Beachcomber is part of the research and development of the Internet of Things Engineering Group.

  4. Internet of Things • The Internet of Things is the phenomenon of more and more things being connected to the internet. The things are tracked, analysed, mapped, and even controlled. It is a blend of interent technologies and thing technologies such as bar codes, RFID tags, and QR codes.

  5. Tree and Building project • To develop an application to link the trees and the buildings in around the CSIR campus to the internet. • The application allows the user with a smart phone equipped with the necessary QR reader software to zap the QR code attached on the object and get information about the object almost instantly.
