  2. Lab 1 –Installing to BareMetal • This is the standard put in the DVD and install the OS.

  3. Lab 1a – Installing to a VHD • This is installing to your laptop in a dual-boot situation . Using Diskpart to setup the VHD and using the DVD to install into that VHD. • Use the Dir to find out which drive you want to use. • Msconfig to adjust boot order or remove entries.

  4. Lab 1c attach a VHD • Didn’t put this on paper. But it’s how I setup my laptop • Attach the Eval VHD to W:\ using disk manager • Ran BCDboot w:\windows from cmd prompt • Rebooted. • Msconfigto adjust boot order or remove entries.

  5. Lab 2 –Enable desktop expe.. • This starts the process by enabling wireless and desktop experience. That most of the way to turning your server into a usable workstation.

  6. Lab 3 – configure Hyper-V • Installs and configures Hyper-V.. Using my current best practices. • Lab 3 page 2 click your adapter and click next on virtual switch and Click next on migration page. • Lab 3 – live migration requires a domain- skip this step.

  7. Lab 4 - Setting up a domain • It’s easier to move and replicate if your domain is setup properly. I use it in lab 7 to show the AD recycle bin. • DCs fully supported on Virtual environment now.

  8. Lab 5 – Creating a Virtual Machine • Lab 5 – Change Virtual machine to use 2048 to boot… changing the ram makes the reboot time shorter.

  9. Lab 6 - The tristateGui • Full, Core and Mini mode. • Mini mode only has Server Manager. • This lab shows how to change between them. • Lab 6 need space before –remove

  10. Lab 7- Active Directory Recycle bin • Shows how to enable it, and shows you the GUI interface. • Once enabled you are stuck with it. • Needs dc’s and forest to be 2008 R2.

  11. Lab 8 – Storage Spaces • Storage spaces. - • Deduplicaiton

  12. Lab 9 …. Not written Yet. • Permissions ? Dynamic Access Control • Group Policy? • Windows 8 Install • DHCP replica Failover?? • IPAM
