  3. OBJECTIVES • Define the term safety, safety hazards and accident • Discuss who is mostly likely at risk • Identify types of accidents and suggest the cause and the precautions that may be taken. • Examine the safety hazards at home

  4. DEFINITIONS • SAFETY- the act of ensuring no injury is inflicted one’s self or others due to negligence. It can be seen as accident prevention • Safety hazards- anything that is dangerous or can cause an accident • Accident- a sudden event usually caused by someone making a mistake that causes damage, injury or death.

  5. WHO IS AT RISK and WHY?

  6. Types of accidents cuts Burns and scalds Eye injury Bites and stings Explosions Broken bones Fire Electric shock Poisoning Sprains

  7. Activity • Each table will be assigned an accident • Suggest causes for that type of accident and how it can be prevented
