  4. Financial Literacy • Required by Illinois for High School Graduation • Often offered as part of other classes • Not always the “most fun” class for students • Critical for long-term financial health

What we are doing at ISU • BTE 141—Financial Literacy for the College Student • Freshman/Sophomore focused • A general education class that counts as a Quantitative Reasoning course • Offered for the first time last summer as an online course • Multiple sections will be offered beginning Spring 2014 • College seniors are enrolling before the freshman have a chance to join the class

  6. How it fits into the BTE Program • BTE junior/senior students are creating modules to be incorporated into BTE 141 • BTE Methods students will have an opportunity to teach micro-lessons in the F2F sections of the class

  7. Long-Range Goal • The content of the financial literacy class will be available to a wider audience via iTunesU in the near future
