The new ISO/IEC 17025:2017 introduces a new concept, i.e., u201crisk-based thinkingu201d which requires the accredited laboratory to plan and implement actions to address possible risks and opportunities associated with the laboratory activities. With a proper risk consideration, preventive actions can be neglected. The laboratory is now responsible for deciding which risks and opportunities need to be addressed. The aims are: <br>a)tto give assurance that the management system achieves its intended results;<br>b)tto enhance opportunities to achieve the purpose and objectives of the laboratory, and, <br>c) t to prevent, or minimize, undesired or interfering elements
