Types of Disaster • Naturally occurring disasters such as typhoon, flood, downpour, strong wind, wind and waves, tidal waves, snowstorm, thunder, drought, earthquake, yellow sand, and red tide Natural Disaster NEMA • Large-scale damages caused by events such as fire, collapse, explosion, traffic accident, chemical accident, and environmental pollution accident Man-Made Disaster Ministry of Public Administration and Security • Damages caused by the spread of diseases and the paralysis of natural infrastructure such as energy, telecommunications, traffic, finances, medical, and water services. Disaster Management System National Disaster Management System (NDMS) Central Disaster Management System - Manages restoration work, facilities, refugees, damage situation, local prevention activity situation according to disaster types Disaster Information Sharing System - Provides real time disaster occurrence situation and damage information Disaster Management Information DB Center - Manages various statistics and resources according to disaster types Situation dissemination System - disseminates real time situation and response commands to local and central government ministries

Main Disaster Management System Flood Control System Issue a rainfall warning, flood warning, alert, and the water level in major dams, river level according to basin and water systems ※If it exceeds certain water level, heavy rainfall or overflow, then turn on yellow or red light as well as conduct the alert broadcasting

Main Disaster Management System CCTV System (Expressways and Local Government) Real time monitoring of current status through connected local governments and affiliated organizations’ CCTV that are installed in highways and rivers - 5,400 CCTVs from local governments and affiliated organizations are fully connected (2011, April)
