Intended Project Deliverables • Regional Integrated MLE for the NI tertiary sector • Tools to build a secure regional MLE • Demonstrators of portable courses,materials • Report on the effectiveness of IMS • Case studies of impact of MLE on Business Processes • Reports on outcomes, impact & effectiveness

  4. What the project will cover • Develop smooth seamless information exchange between FE, HE • Enhanced information & services for students • Eg Foundation degrees, Franchised degrees,HNDs, Access Courses, A Levels, Vocational Qualifications • Sharing resources – real and virtual • Virtual cohorts – educational pathways, careers advice, information portals, showcases • Monitoring and supporting student progress

Business and Technical Processes • This project & new MIS – spur to review business processes • Protocols for information posting & exchange • Enable sharing of resources, regional discussion lists, showcase for students’ work • Unique student identifier • Credit Transfer Scheme - NICATS • Authentication of users and security of data

  6. Project Team • 1 Project Manager • 1 Curriculum Officer • 2 MIS Developers • Consultancy / short term secondments from FE and HE sector • Team based at QUB • DEL support (MIS and Curriculum contacts)

Timescale • Gearing up June 2002 – August 2002 • Analysis, design, & preparation for implementation Aug 2002 – Jan 2003 • Prototyping and proof of concept Feb 2003 July 2003 • Embedding & Widening Concept Aug 2003 – Jan 2004 • Implementation across consortium Feb 2004 – July 2004 • Further implementation across consortium Aug 2004 – March 2005
