  10. Situation Status Function • Collect and maintain current status of incidents. • Tract weather. • Summarize data. • Obtain information on significant/sensitive issues. • Prepare and display information and maps.

  16. Information Function • Gather and summarize information. • Disseminate summary and overview information to external entities. • Disseminate summary and overview information to internal entities. • Assist with VIP briefings and tours.

  17. Continued … • Attend MAC meetings to discuss media coverage, public sentiment and emerging issues. • Log significant events and contacts.

  18. MAC Group Meetings Have Two Functions • To provide briefings. • To make decisions.

  19. MAC Group Meeting THE BRIEFING • Attended by MAC Group and interested individuals with valid issues. • Facilitated by MAC Group Coordinator. • Participants receive a briefing packed (see outline for sample packet contents). • Opportunity to raise new issues.

  20. MAC Group Meeting DECISION MAKING • Attended only by MAC Group members. • Review issues. • Review existing criteria for priority setting. • Prioritize incidents. • Allocate resources. • Decide on media concerns. • Decide on decision implementation.

  21. MAC Group Meeting THE OUTPUTS • The Briefing • New issues/threats identified. • Individuals/groups with valid concerns are identified.
