  4. Change Model

  5. Our approach Change is different from transition CHANGE is situational; new site new boss new job etc TRANSITION is the psychological process people go through to come to terms with new situations CHANGE = understanding the destination and how to get there TRANSITION = convincing people to leave home!

  6. Transformational leadership Understands and influences both change and transition elements Underpinned by emotional intelligence Leads by example Trusts staff to innovate and grow – takes calculated risks Embeds ownership Bottom up and top down meeting in the middle WE BUILT RELATIONSHIPS FIRST, THEN SET THE TASK WITHIN THAT RELATIONSHIP

  7. Evaluation 1st phase (Dec 06 – May 07) • Is the structure developed supporting practitioners to work together? • Are practitioners feeling confident in their lead professional role? 2nd phase (May 07 – Oct 07) • Longer term outcomes for children, young people and their families(interviews and full review of CAF outcomes) • Ease of system navigation for children, young people, families and staff(interviews and social network analysis)

  8. Achievements so far • Systems and processes developed for common assessments • Practitioner handbook developed by practitioners for practitioners • Training programme developed and piloted • 15 CAFs completed with full multi agency plans developed and monitored by a lead professional and the families involved

  9. Achievements so far • Case studies starting to show co-ordination between agencies • Much better understanding and appreciation of each others roles • Anecdotal feedback from families shows positive responses to improved co-ordination • Tangible hearts and minds changes – front line staff, managers and strategic managers

  10. Future embedding strategy/issues • Roll out systems into other 4 localities • Set up an integrated working team of change agents from different services/organisations • Move away from CAF to whole systems assessments (universal - CAF - specialist) • Move away from CAF to other aspects of integrated working
