Eligibility for Transportation • The Calgary Board of Education provides subsidized transportation services for students who live beyond the walk limit of their designated school. • All students accessing subsidized transportation services are required to pay Board approved transportation fees.

  26. Eligibility for Transportation • Eligibility for transportation is determined by the student’s primary residence address. • Noon supervision is provided at no additional cost to all eligible bused students, subject to annual budget review.

Transportation Implications • If the Regular Program at Fred Seymour, Maple Ridge and Willow Park were to be consolidated and Grades K-4 offered at Fred Seymour School, 85 students would be eligible for CBE subsidized transportation. • If the Regular Program at Fred Seymour, Maple Ridge and Willow Park were to be consolidated and Grades K-4 offered at Maple Ridge School, 86 students would be eligible for CBE subsidized transportation. • If the Regular Program at Fred Seymour, Maple Ridge and Willow Park were to be consolidated and Grades 5 & 6 offered at R.T. Alderman School, 85 students would be eligible for CBE subsidized transportation.

Established Criteria from 2004/05 Key Stakeholder meetings: • Provide the best educational opportunities • To have “we” rather than “me” thinking • To build cohesive community around a K-4, 5-9 and 5-9 Arts Centred Learning School • To facilitate smooth transition • To coordinate school times, calendars, etc. to accommodate families • To give consideration to an early decision for a consolidation of space • To give consideration to the campus concept

Recommendations of 2004/05 Scenario Development Team • Scenario 1: Students residing in the communities of Willow Park/Maple Ridge will be designated to: • Fred Seymour Elementary School (K-4) • R.T. Alderman Middle School (5-9) for the regular program. Willow Park will only offer an Arts-Centred Learning program for grades 5-9 (commitment to accommodate grades 3-4 students at Willow Park in 2006) Opportunities/Challenges?
