  4. PLANNER >> Used daily to copy assignments. • Parents MUST sign daily, including Friday. • May contain notes from school. • Parents may send me messages in the planner. • Contains the SGCES Handbook. • Write any changes about dismissal in the planner. I check planners for my homeroom only.

  5. HOmeRoom ACTIVITY SCHEDULE • 9:42 -–10:30 • Activity will not be the same from week to week. • Students must wear tennis shoes on P.E. days. • Activity schedule will be in the planner & on my website.

  6. SWAPPING CLASSES • This year your child will have 2 teachers. • Mrs. Jenny -– Homeroom Teacher / Reading & Social Studies teacher • Mrs. Jodie Prince –- Math & Science Teacher • We will swap classes at 11:55 and swap back at 2:40 before dismissal.

  7. BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS • Get in touch with me to set up a time and day. • We will only have about 10 minutes at the end of the day. • Use list of refreshments from nurse’s safe food list. Lists change almost daily so please check. You may purchase ice cream during lunch for the class too. • Only send invitations to parties to school if everyone is getting one.

  8. SNACKS • We will have a morning snack. • One healthy snack only and plain water. • NO PEANUT PRODUCTS please. • Ice Cream available at lunch time.

  9. LUNCH 11:55 -12:20 • Visitors are welcome. Please check in at the office and wait by the cafeteria for us to join you. Due to limited time to get back to our work, please say your good-byes as you leave the cafeteria. • Please do not purchase ice cream for other students unless you decide to purchase it for the whole class. I do not want feelings hurt. • Cafeteria Expectations are posted in the cafeteria and reviewed in the classroom. • Lunch Money can be paid online or send to school in a labeled envelope.

  10. WEEKLY FOLDER • The Weekly Folder will come home on THURSDAYS. • It will contain the previous week’s work. • Please sign the folder, keep the papers, and return the next day. This counts as a homework assignment.

  11. HOMEWORK FOLDER • The Homework Folder will contain papers / work that we are currently working on. Skills your child needs to study and review should be in the folders. • Please DO NOT remove any papers from the folder. We will clean out the folders in class.

  12. DROP BOX / FEE MONEY • I have a Drop Box on my desk for your child to put notes, forms, and money. • Make sure money is in a labeled envelope or ziploc. • Fees are $20 for planners and other needed supplies.

READING / LANGUAGE ARTS • iReady Workbook (comprehension & grammar skills) • Wordly Wise (vocabulary – 10 words per lesson) • IRAs • Editing / Proofreading Skills (spelling) • Phonics / Dictation Tests (spelling) • RTI • JOURNEYS textbook and workbook • Writing • Independent grammar lessons • Read-Alouds • Fluency

  14. SOCIAL STUDIES • Map Folders • Newspapers (covers wide range of geography, culture, and economy around the world) • Handbook about the continents • Notes and handouts will be used. • Other resources will be used as well. • Projects

  15. DISCIPLINE • Blue……Good Behavior (start on blue everyday) • Yellow….Warning (verbal reprimand) • Red ….. Restricted Recess • Black ….. Withdrawal of Recess Privileges (strike 1 against “Do Right Day”) • Name on Board…No Recess / Special Assignment / Strike 2) • Name on Board with Check Mark…. Same as above / Strike 3 / Contact Parent • 3 STRIKES or MORE = No Do Right Day

  17. OPTIONAL SUPPLIES FOR OUR CLASSROOM • Expo Markers • Lysol • Baby Wipes • Paper Towels • Kleenex (especially in the winter)
