  3. Герои Кассиля настолько полюбились и взрослым, и детям, что их не раз воплощали на большом экране. По книгам писателя были сняты такие фильмы, как «Брат героя», «Друзья из табора», «Улица младшего сына», «Синегория» и знаменитый «Вратарь». Вообще, тема спорта занимала в жизни автора особое место: Кассиль был заядлым футбольным болельщиком клуба «Спартак», дружил со многими спортсменами. Его смерть тоже оказалась связана с футболом: инфаркт, унёсший жизнь Кассиля, случился 21 июня 1970года, когда знаменитый советский писатель смотрел трансляцию финального матча за первенство мира. Похоронен в г. Москве на Новодевичьем кладбище.
