  2. Directions: Respond to the following quote. Continue writing. “Two possibilities exist: Either we are alone in the Universe or we are not. Both are equally terrifying.” –Arthur C. Clarke

  3. Traits of a Speaker/Audience What do you think are the responsibilities of the speaker and the audience. Make a compressive bullet point list.

  4. Directions: Create a bullet point list. Think of at least 5 simple controversial arguments and then write them on your paper. For example, “The energy drink, ‘Monster’, is healthy.”

  5. Directions: Address the following writing prompt. Do you think people feel unfree due to skin color, ethnicity, language, socioeconomic status or gender. Explain your thoughts an opinions expressing all of some of these ideas.

  6. 50 yr. anniversary of “A Dream” Get this out. •What do we mean by the term "civil rights? •Who was Martin Luther King, Jr., and how did he fight for civil rights? •What can we learn from the words of Dr. King's "I Have a Dream" speech? •What parts of Dr. King's dream have or have not been realized in the present day?

  7. What are the differences between these two speeches of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Malcolm X? Comment on tone, style and overall message (theme).

  8. Research Explain how you think you would research different topics. Write down sources that you would consider when trying to prove evidence on topic or argument.

  9. Directions: Write as much as you can about your arguments supporting or depending the following comments. The school resource officer (SRO) brings the drug dogs who alert on your locker.
