EGCA CALENDAR Annual Award Process • June – Launch of call for applications • August – Applicant workshop • October – Application deadline • November to March – Expert Panel application assessment • January/February – Clarifications issued to cities • April – Shortlisted cities announcement • May – Shortlisted cities present to the Jury • June – Winner announced at the EGC award ceremony Other Key Dates • December – Handover Ceremony (outgoing to incoming European Green Capital) • April to May – Expert Panel applications invited • April to July – Publication of key project reports; • Expert Panel Technical Assessment Report • Jury Report • Urban Environment Good Practice & Benchmarking Report.

EGCA SECRETARIAT – TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT MANAGEMENT • Update technical indicator criteria and rules of competition • Manage application form and guidance note revision (in conjunction with experts & commission) • Validate criteria • Keep up to date with environmental policy • Translation and document control • Manage online application portal • Conduct city background check in association with Commission

EGCA SECRETARIAT – TECHNICAL ASSESSMENT MANAGEMENT • Convene & Manage the Expert Panel to complete the technical assessment of the 12 indicators included in the application form • Host Meetings • Recruit experts • Compile Rankings comments etc. and prepare reports • Liaison between Experts, Jury and Applicants • Main contact point for cities • Deal with technical queries • Receive, verify, translate and issue applications to experts • Issue clarifications from experts • Disseminate information from the Expert Panel to the Jury via Technical Report

EGCA SECRETARIAT – COMMUNICATION ASPECT • Prepare brochures and leaflets • Promotion of the award in association with: • EGCA Handover and Award Ceremonies • Winning, Shortlisted and Applicant City News and Events • Key Partner and Stakeholder Events • Key European and International Events i.e. Green Week • Articles and press releases distributed across Europe • Website • Social Media accounts
