2. Purposes for Leadership Camp Educate you about the Dothan High School Student Council Hold official Class Meetings to make plans for this school year Give you an opportunity to meet the members of the Dothan High School Student Council

4. What is Student Council? An student-led organization which functions to promote excellence at Dothan High School in all areas
5. Goals of Student Council Goals of Student Council Provide Dothan High School Students with a voice on campus Promote positive change at Dothan High School Promote Leadership among members Promote Community Service Provide opportunities for cultural advancement
6. How is Student Council Organized?

Role of Student Council President and Class President Helps carry out Student Council Objectives Serves as the official representative of the group to other organizations Supervises the functioning of elected officers Carries the main responsibility for smooth running of group meetings Listens to the “VOICE” of the students of Dothan High School
8. Role of Student Council Vice-President Works closely with the President Assumes the President’s duties if necessary Coordinates the work of committees Assists the president in meeting agenda preparation Works behind the scenes to organize events
9. Role of the Secretary/Treasurer Notify members of upcoming meetings Take roll of attendees at meetings Take minutes of minutes Maintain a file of original agendas and minutes Prepare budget with assistance of Advisors Keep track of all expenditures and deposits
10. Role of the Liaison Officer Role of the Liaison Officer Assist Advisor with paper work Prepare a quarterly newsletter for all Club and/or Class members Submit articles for the newspaper Assists Historian/Scrapbook Officer
11. Role of Homeroom Representatives Make a monthly report to your Homeroom Take suggestions and concerns from your Homeroom; Submit this information to your Class President and or Student Council President Attend all meetings Have fun while helping others
12. Role of the Historian Maintain an accurate history of the Dothan High School Student Council Maintain a yearly scrapbook which documents Student Council Events
13. Good vs Bad Members Good- Shows respect for others by being on time Accepts responsibility of sharing in the business at hand Gives constant, active attention to the groups activity Participates according to the “Golden Rule” Volunteers to serve on committees BAD- Breaks the spirit of the meeting by always arriving late Lets everyone else do it. Does not participate Accepts responsibilities, committee appointments, etc., but forgets about the assignment Does not listen to others Has a negative attitude
14. The Big Question What is my role in the Dothan High School Student Council? How will I contribute to Dothan High School? How can I make a difference at Dothan High School?
