  2. Leveraging Forum Products

  3. National Data Standards We will be the ones who implement them. Will we just wait to see what happens? OR Will we participate and ensure the standards • build on what’s already in place • are feasible • are technically excellent

  4. Call to Action Our national leaders recognize that information is key to making a difference in education. Never before have the resources, the political will, and the common focus around education come together quite so intensely as they are today.

  5. What needs to be done? We can’t expect to do the same thing in the same way and get different results. • Agree on our vision for the Forum’s role • Perform a Gap Analysis • Prioritize tasks and take action

  6. A Plan of Action • Standing committees consider a common vision for the Forum’s role. • Identify the components of that vision • Common definitions, indicators, platforms, data model • Standards for interoperability • Determine our action steps and priorities • Consider our current products • Leverage state’s experience and best practices • Who/How will we move forward? • Working Groups and Task Forces? • Standing Committees and the Steering Committee? • Partnerships with SHEEO, DQC, AYPF, CCSSO and EIMAC, Vendors, SIFA and PESC, Others?

  7. Next Steps • Proposed Vision: The Forum will act as the authoritative body for defining and maintaining National Education Data Standards. • Inventory (Forum products and other best practices) • Gap (brainstorm what still needs to be done to reach our vision) • Priority (what has to be done now, and what can wait? Phase 1; Phase 2; Phase 3) • Plan (who should be responsible and what is the timeline?)
