  2. Source: An Bord Pleanála website

  3. During the oral hearing we get more late information... Improper procedure, unjust to the public

  4. An Board Pleanála Code of Conduct

  5. An Board Pleanála Code of Conduct “the Corrib gas pipeline meet[s] all relevant safety standards and codes” – Bob Hanna of TAG to ABP, 20th January 2010

  6. ABP letter to applicant 2nd November 2009 • “Due regard” for government policy • Considers the project as a whole

  7. Strategic National Importance of Corrib Gas- Conventional Economics - • €0.00 guaranteed state take from Corrib • SEPIL profits add to Irish GDP... But benefit Shell only • No discount buy back or any contract with the state for supply → zero security of supply

  8. Strategic National Importance of Corrib Gas- Using Accounting Principles - • Fossil fuel reserves & mined material is Natural Capital • Truly sustainable development must increase our renewable income

  9. Extensification of Life of Project - Corporate plans - “Commenced drilling the 18/20-G exploration well offshore Ireland, targeting a structure north of the Corrib Field. Should hydrocarbons be discovered and prove commercial, the structure would have the potential to significantly extend the life of the Corrib platform. Vermilion holds an 18.5% interest in this well.” - Extract from Vermillion press release 9thAug 2010

  10. Subsea Installations 2008 December “Sedco 711 departs the Corrib field having completed work on the Corrib wells. Four wells at the Corrib field are now completed and are ready for production at a later date. Work on the wells was carried out during the 2006, 2007 and 2008 drilling seasons.” Sedco 711 drilling rig http://www.shell.ie/home/content/irl/aboutshell/shell_businesses/e_and_p/corrib/about/history/ • Corrib wells heads & manifold fitted by Transocean • Subsea work was completed to original plan of development (at best) • Not intended as pressure regulation to an MAOP of 150 bar

  11. Qualitative Risk Assessment “There are different types of qualitative risk assessment that can be carried out... the chosen method depends on the purpose and objectives of the assessment and what you are trying to achieve” – Point 5 of Sheryl Hurst’s evidence

  12. Qualitative Risk Assessment “There are different types of qualitative risk assessment that can be carried out... the chosen method depends on the purpose and objectives of the assessment and what you are trying to achieve” – Point 5 of Sheryl Hurst’s evidence “One objective of the Corrib bowtie workshops was to demonstrate that the risks associated with the pipeline had been reduced to levels which were ALARP which means As Low As Reasonably Practicable” - Point 39 of Sheryl Hurst’s evidence

  13. Traffic “HCV traffic to and from Glengad will be managed using a controlled convoy system, which was successfully used previously during the landfall construction” - Michael Noonan, point 4.2.9 of his evidence

  14. Traffic chaos on L1202 Road blockage on 18th May 2009 involving Shell HCV

  15. Vibrations “These vibrations will travel through the ground as various different waveforms dependant on the nature of the geology surrounding the TBM ” “Groundborne vibration has the potential to be transmitted to residential and other buildings near to the shore as feelable vibration and groundborne noise...” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 4.2 & 4.4 of his evidence

  16. Vibrations “The model is deterministic... Consequently the accuracy of the results is dependent on the correctness of the input parameters” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 4.13 of his evidence

  17. Vibrations “The model is deterministic... Consequently the accuracy of the results is dependent on the correctness of the input parameters” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 4.13 of his evidence But the input parameters are based on the 2008 for the crossings at Glengad to Rossport & back to Aghoos...

  18. Geophysical data is from 2009 route survey

  19. Vibrations “The model is deterministic... Consequently the accuracy of the results is dependent on the correctness of the input parameters” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 4.13 of his evidence But the input parameters are based on the 2008 for the crossings at Glengad and Aghoos So does the “garbage in, garbage out” principle apply?

  20. Vibrations “There would be no significant vibration effect even when the vibration from the TBM and temporary railway are considered in combination with vibration from construction vehicles on the highway” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 5.5 of his evidence

  21. Vibrations “There would be no significant vibration effect even when the vibration from the TBM and temporary railway are considered in combination with vibration from construction vehicles on the highway” – Rupert Thornley-Taylor in point 5.5 of his evidence But SEPIL 2009 haulage to Glengad on L1202 damaged walls and foundations along route
