The data from an RTI query shows that a total of 35,551credit card fraudswere reported from An increase in such activities has necessitated that your card be shielded and that you’re alert all the time!   3. TRACK YOUR CREDIT REPORT You’re entitled to one free credit report every year from credit bureaus like CRIF. Monitor it: if you come across any account that does not belong to you, report it immediately.

  4. SUBSCRIBE FOR BANK ALERTS In case, you come across any fraudulent activity, contact your issuer. Sign up for fraud alerts using your phone number.

  5. CHECK YOUR MONTHLY STATEMENT Counter-check all the purchases you made with the monthly statement you receive. Contact your credit card company in case you notice any discrepancy.

  9. MEMORIZE YOUR CVV NUMBER When you swipe your card, make sure no one is making a note of your CVV number. Memorize the CVV number then put an opaque sticker on it or scratch-off the CVV number.

  10. AVOID PHISHING SCAMS These links are often phishing scams and the scammer tricks you to enter your login details on their fake website. Don’t click on any email links or pop-ups that look like your bank.

  11. ENQUIRE ABOUT LOST CARD LIABILITY COVER If your card is used by a thief after the loss, the issuer may be liable to honour the amount when claimed. Check if your issuer provides such cover.
