Installation decisions are based on the results of moisture tests and proper performance of these test methods is critical to the decision making process..

Why should someone become certified or attend Tier 1 of this program? • Testing performed by certified technicians can help provide a greater confidence in the test results provided. • To gain a better understanding of the test methods, and the meaning of the results they provide. • Ownership of certification belongs to the individual and remains with the individual should they change employers. • Many project and manufacturer specifications require that testing be performed by an ICRI certified concrete slab moisture testing technician.

ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Technician Program Updated – Sept. 2018 • Added new test method – F 3191 (Concrete Porosity) • Now, five (5) test methods in certification program • ASTMs transmitted electronically prior to class • Written exams to be translated into French and Spanish (available in 2019)

  6. ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program What is the ICRI Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Certification Program Based Upon? An Educational Program and Performance Exam on Five (5) ASTM standard test methods: • 1) Moisture Vapor Emission Rate (MVER) - ASTM F 1869 • 2) Concrete Relative Humidity - ASTM F 2170 • 3) Electronic Moisture Meter – ASTM F 2659 • 4) Concrete Surface pH testing - ASTM F 710, Section 5.2 • 5) Concrete Porosity – ASTM F 3191 (NEW)

ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program Program has two tiers: Tier 1 (Educational Program) • Educational Session: 3 to 4 hours -- Written Examination -- Certificate of Achievement Tier 2 (Full Certification Program) -- Educational Program: Ed. Session and Written Exam • Performance Examination • Certificate and Wallet Card (5 – yr. certification)

  9. ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program Written Examination • One hour to complete • Closed book • All questions are multiple choice • Total of 40 questions • Four sections - must pass each section with 60% correct • Overall passing grade of 70% correct

  10. ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program Performance Examination • 1 – Hour Time Slot • Perform Four ASTM Tests Graded By Instructors/Judges • No Coaching By Instructors/Judges • Certification Requires Passing Both Written and Performance Exams

ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Program Re-Certification • Eligibility 6 mo prior to 9 mo after cert expiration date • Available at all scheduled classes & Ewald offices (4) • Written examination only • 60 multiple choice questions, closed book • Four sections, 70% correct each, 75% correct overall • New 5-year certification

ICRI Certification – Concrete Slab Moisture Testing Technician Re- Exams • Eligibility 12 mo after failed exam date • Available for Tier 1 & 2 and Recert Written Exams at scheduled classes and Ewald offices (4) • Written re-exam offered to class participants on Day 2 of scheduled class at discounted fee (for only those who fail written exam on Day 1) • Available for Tier 2 performance exam (1 – 5 tests) at scheduled classes only
