  12. Looking Glass • Dive deep and look at your reactions, preconceptions and experiences- then DRAW: • How you feel about curriculum integration. • The monster- what is your greatest challenge.

  13. ACTION! • Pair up. • Everyone make a monster noise! • Be your monster- tell your fear (in a monster voice with monster actions) to your partner. • Now, one monster to another, empathize and reassure.

  14. We're in this together~ supporting resources. • Pender Arts Wiki • DPI Arts Wiki • Webinars • Share your creations- we are our own best resources!

  15. Content: What is authentic integration?

  16. It's a matter of: Give and Take • Authentic integration is: Timely Relevant Constructive Active Connective

  17. Scene: A teacher from another discipline really wants to include -X-. They normally just make/watch/do -X- as a stand alone example of 'arts integration'. Explain how they could authentically integrate -X- into their content. Your Task: Transformation! • Art: Transform the Holiday Project! • Theater: Transform the DGEK (dead guys everyone knows) • Music: Transform the Disney Film (or 'my sub plan') • Dance: Transform the Dance of the Chickens!

  18. No more monsters! • Knowledge dispels fear. • Questions are signposts. • Information builds connection~ • Explain the change! • Tell your story!

  19. Heros- Our Quest! • Expand our perspectives and embrace the change. • Help colleagues to understand that 'arts integration' is more than method. • Model the change the way we envision it to be- exciting, inclusive and engaging for all!

  20. Treasure Chest! • The Map: county wide staff development- we'll help you get to where you need to go! • Cool Tool: create a drop down integrated lesson plan with google docs! • Collaborate, cooperate, communicate- we're in this together!

  21. Your task- • *Teach. Your students are your first priority. • *Integrate the common core into your lessons. • *Discuss how the change is going in our Edmoto group: Pender County Arts • *Create a lesson to share on the wiki that includes the ES/CC and models integration across disciplines. • *Spotlight another teacher in your school who authentically integrates art into their class.

  22. Questions and Concerns

  23. Evaluation • County: staff development web site • Presentation: emailed survey link • Exit ticket: • What did you learn? • What do you still have a question about? • What do you want me to know?
