  2. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Established in 1913, Russian Maritime Register of Shipping (RS) is one of the leading classification societies. RS is recognized be the European Union and is a member of International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). RS Class: More than 1750 shipowners have chosen the RS class. The RS high performance results are possible due to the wide range of scientific research. Innovation is an indispensable part of the RS research activities, which are the basis for developing new requirements and standards to ensure maritime safety and pollution prevention. Process of improvement and development of RS Rules is coordinated by RS Scientific-and-Technical Council consisting of over 300 leading scientists and specialists of RS, scientific institutes and design bureaus.   13. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping NEW SHIPS CONSTRUCTION: Tankers for the Caspian sea The largest possible oil tankers for the Caspian Sea are built to the RS class. These 13000 t dwt tankers are intended for transportation of oil and petroleum products with a specific weight up to 0.99 t/m and a flash point lower than 60 º C. They can simultaneously carry two types of cargo; cargo heating is provided for viscous cargoes. In 2009 the UK Royal Institution of Naval Architects included Zengezur, the sixth tanker of the series, in the List of significant ships of 2008. www.rs-class.org pobox@rs-class.org

Russian Maritime Register of Shipping NEW SHIPS CONSTRUCTION: Arctic tankers VasiliyDinkov, the first in a new generation of shuttle tankers, was recognized by the Tanker Shipping and Trade magazine as a winner in the nomination Ship of the Year 09 - Shuttle Tanker. 70.000 t dwt shuttle tankers VasiliyDinkov, KapitanGotsky and TimofeyGuzhenko have been built to dual RS-ABS class for a year-round oil transportation from Varandey Terminal in the Pechora Sea. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping NEW SHIPS CONSTRUCTION: Arctic tankers 70.000 t dwt Arctic tankers Mikhail Ulyanov and KirillLavrov are built in St. Petersburg to the dual RS-LR class by the order of “Sovcomflot”. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping NEW SHIPS CONSTRUCTION: Large tankers A series of four ships with a deadweight of 156.000 t intended for transportation of crude oil will be built to the RS class.   18. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping NEW SHIPS CONSTRUCTION: Nuclear power station The construction of a floating nuclear power station is carried out under the RS survey. The power station fitted with a reactor facility of higher safety is intended for the Far North and Far East but may also operate under tropical conditions. The power station meets the up-to-date standards and requirements for the safety and ecological compatibility level which removes restrictions on its location close to settlements. www.rs-class.org pobox@rs-class.org

  20. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping OFFSHORE PROJECTS: Vast experience in ensuring the safe operation of mobile offshore drilling units. Russian Maritime Register of Shipping Personnel training: • Special emphasis is placed on the training of newly recruited ingineering • and technical personnel as well on the maintaining and upgrading surveyors’ qualification during their employment in RS to the level ensuring high quality services rendered by RS. • Special training including theoretical and practical aspects under the supervision of a tutor before starting to work independently. • Certificate of Competence allowing to work independently may be issued only after a test confirmed by a positive report of the tutor. • The mandatory condition for continued validity of the Certificate of Competence issued is the verification of the RS surveyors’ competence and qualification level. www.rs-class.org pobox@rs-class.org
