  1. Power point by Michael Fischer The Maze RunnerJames Dashner

  2. Setting • The Maze Runner by James Dashner takes place in a place called the glade. The glade is a huge walled-off area that is surrouned by huge concrete walls that close every night to close up the maze. The Glade has a danger filled maze connected to it which has a way out that has not been found for a very long time. The maze is filled with evil half animal half machine monsters called Grievers. The Glade has Four corners with a Graveyard, Homestead, job sites, and much more. There is also a garden in the middle where gladers prefer to sleep at night.

  3. The Glade I drew this in paint.

  4. Characters: Thomas • Thomas is the main character in the maze runner. He is the newest glader to arrive in the glade. He is very curios and asks lots of questions, mainly like, “what is this place?” and “Why do I not remember anything?” I picture Thomas as a strong, tall, and fast person. Thomas also feels very sad and mad because he doesn’t want to be in the glade. Thomas is a main character in the book. He is a protagonist. (Dynamic) http://mazerunner.wikia.com/wiki/Thomas

  5. Characters: Minho • Minho is a person Thomas meets early on in his time at the glade. He is a runner, which is a person who runs through the maze every day to find a way out. Minho is fast, and pretty bossy to Thomas when he first meets him. Minho is the head of the runners program in the glade, which Thomas wants to join very badly. Minho is a protagonist in the story and plays a pretty big role.(static) http://mazerunnerfandom.net/2012/06/08/maze-runner-dream-cast-week-6-minho/

  6. Characters: Gally • Gally is Thomas’ first enemy at the glade. Gally is despised by other gladers because of his arrogant nature, and how mean an disrespectful he is. I picture him as a short, angry boy always with a frown on his face. He looks down on Thomas, and Thomas knows he isnt the only one that despises Gally. Gally and Thomas Become enemies immediatley. Gally might seem like some mean random kid, but he becomes a big antagonist in the final few chapters of Maze Runner. http://mazerunner.wikia.com/wiki/Gally

  7. Characters: Teresa • Teresa is one the most major characters in Maze Runner. This is because she is the first girl to be sent to the glade. At first, she is in a temporary coma and later wakes up when everything in the glade is going wrong. Thomas and Teresa have an odd connection with each other, with allows them to talk to each other in their heads. I picture Teresa as a tall, dark haired, skinny girl. http://mazerunner.wikia.com/wiki/Teresa_Agnes

  8. Characters: Frypan • Frypan is the cook for all foods in the glade. Every week, the box gives the gladers food, some for which Frypan can cook up for the hungry Gladers. Frypan cooks everything from Bacon and eggs to sandwiches as described as Thomas’ meals in the book. I picture Frypan as a Large tall boy with curly hair. He is a protagonist and is static. http://mazerunner.wikia.com/wiki/Frypan

  9. Plot • The plot of a story is the main structure of a story and how the story ends up and how it pans out. • Rising action is a group of events that lead up to the climax. • Climax is the main event in a story that either changes the story a lot or makes it a lot more interesting. • Falling action is the group of events that occur after the climax.

  10. Plot-Rising action • Thomas arrives in the glade. • Thomas meets chuck and becomes friends with him. • Chuck and Thomas get yelled at by Gally for pulling a simple Prank on Gally. • Gally and Thomas instantly become enemies. • Thomas sees Ben, the stung boy. • Thomas gets attacked by Ben, and Alby shoots Ben in the cheek. • Teresa arrives in the Glade, and she is the first girl to arrive at the glade. • Ben is sent into the glade, and eaten by grievers. • A group of gladers head out to see a “dead griever” and they don’t make it back to camp in time. • Alby gets stung by the griever playing dead. • Thomas saves Alby and they all get out of the Glade. • Everything changes.

  11. Plot-Climax • The climax of the Maze Runner is when the walls of the glade don’t shut. The walls staying open leaves everybody at risk, with no protection. This event links to Teresa saying that everything would change. The walls not closing results in the gladers making a final stand in the homestead. Gally betrays them and says that the grievers will take you guys one by one. Many gladers get taken, and that brings Thomas to the conclusion of getting stung. He knows he will have visions of the “griever hole” and how to get out of the maze once and for all. The gladers fight there their through the glade and take many casualties, and Thomas, Chuck and a few others make it out. tumblr.com

  12. Plot-Falling action • Thomas, Teresa, and Chuck are trying to type in the password to the computer that is in the griever hole. • Thomas kills two grievers that try to kill the three of them while they are typing in the password. • Chuck finds a simple button that says “Maze off” and the instant he presses it, all the grievers in the maze turn off/die. • The group of survivors slide down a tube in the griever hole and arrive in the creators “office area.” • A creepy creator lady possesses Gally and he throws a knife at Thomas. • Chuck dives in front of the knife and Chuck, sadly, dies. • A sort of S.W.A.T. team comes in to the office and shoots all the creators. • They take the gladers to their base, and have a pizza dinner. • Thomas learns about how there is a deadly disease going around the earth and that they are trying to find a cure. http://deadliestwarrior.wikia.com/wiki/SWAT_Team

  13. Conflicts-Man vs. Society • In Maze Runner, an example of Man vs. Government is how Thomas despises the creators. All the other gladers also despise the creators because they are putting them through this torture. The gladers Develop a plan to invade the griever hole, and the gladers get revenge on the creators, with some help. http://djdragonwolf.deviantart.com/art/Griever-212165441

  14. Conflicts-Man vs. Man • In Maze Runner, an example of Man vs. Man is how Gally is threatening Thomas about how grievers are going to come get them while they are making their final stand in the homestead. Gally attacks Newt and hits him in the face with a piece of wood from the house, which is threatening everybody in the homestead. Gally then jumps into the grievers. http://sportsofboston.com/2011/02/20/nhl-hockey-to-fight-or-not-to-fight/

  15. Conflict-Man vs. Nature • An example of Man vs. nature is when Thomas goes to save Minho and When they get locked out of the walls, and Thomas needs to protect Alby, who got stung. Thomas then ties himself and Alby up to vines on the walls of the maze, and Thomas needs to trust the vines in keeping them up on the walls. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vine

  16. Theme and Resolution • Theme: Have trust and Friendship. Thomas would of never gotten the gladers out of the glade without Teresa and Chuck. Thomas needed to trust these people. • Resolution: The resolution is how all the gladers escape the terrible maze, and then get rescued from the W.I.C.K.E.D. company. http://www.godr.org/
