  1. CSE 3: Fluency with Information Technology (FIT) Learning Computer Basics Learning Basic HTML Overview Intro to Java Programing OVERVIEW Being Fluent in Information Technology is the ability to use and understand computers. This includes but is not limited to IT problem solving, basic programing with both HTML and JavaScript, and computational analysis and calculating. LEARNING BASIC HTML Being able to create these pages was one thing, but learning the actual code behind them required a better grasp on HTML. With this knowledge, our first completely HTML webpages were created. JAVA PROGRAMING Next we used the JavaScript based program Alice 2.3 to do some basic programing. By: Scott Kennedy Creating a Webpage Intro to Spreadsheets Advanced Alice SPREADSHEETS Spreadsheets were one of the main reasons that computers were created. In the third lab lesson, we learned how to create and operate spreadsheets. ADVANCED ALICE We then took the complexity of the Alice programing up a notch and learned how to do loops. To test this, we made a clock. CREATING A WEB PAGE In the first lab of CSE 3, the lesson was around creating a personal webpage for use throughout the quarter as well as later in life during and after UCSD. File Structure Advanced Excel Advanced Java FILE STRUCTURE The next step was learning the way that IT systems are set up, i.e. how computers were organized. Using this knowledge, we created two web pages. ADVANCED EXCEL In Lab 5, we took excel to the next level and used it to analyze real data from companies’ stocks. ADVANCED JAVA Finally to finish off the instructional section of the class, we created a complex, calculation webpage for a fiction coffee shop.
