  2. Not a new problem • The Beginning • Genesis 2 – Lies and the fall of man. • Genesis 4 – Cain murders Abel. • Genesis 6 – Man is consumed with evil. • Genesis 19 – Carnally corrupted.

  3. Not a new problem • 2) The Exodus - Exodus 32:6 • Idolatry was brought from Egypt. This became the main stumbling block to Israel. This issue was not fixed until post captivity!

  4. Not a new problem • 3) Wandering in the wilderness • 1 Corinthians 10:6-11 • - Idolatry • - Fornication • - Testing God • - Murmuring and complaining • 4) Period of captivity • Jeremiah 5:7-9; 6:13-15; Isaiah 30:8-10; Ezekiel 16:15 • This is the lowest point for Israel in her history!

  5. Not a new problem • 5) NT Times • Ephesus – Housed goddess Diana. • Corinth – Housed goddess Aphrodite. Had a temple housing 1000 prostitutes. • Rome – Carnally corrupt emperors.

  6. Not a new problem • 6) Current Times • Notorious cities/states. • Scandals among the elite. • Same problems.

  7. Reality Check • Ecclesiastes 1:9 – “That which hath been is that which shall be; and that which hath been done is that which shall be done: and there is nothing new under the sun.” (ASV)

  8. Why is man so depraved? • Removal of God from the home. • Exodus 12:26 – Passover to be opportunity • Joshua 4:6-7 – Memorial stones • 1 Samuel 2:12, 22-23 – Eli’s sons wicked • Judges 2:10 – A generation not taught

  9. Why is man so depraved? • 2) Effects of the secular mindset. • 1 Corinthians 1:20-25 – The church had these very challenges. • Same influences today – Agnosticism, evolution, secular humanism, etc.

  10. Why is man so depraved? • 3) Man does not want to be exposed. • John 3:20 – Darkness does not want exposure. • Romans 1:24-27 – Darkness trades truth for error and lies.

  11. Why is man so depraved? • 4) Man does not want rules to live by. • Deuteronomy 8, 28; Matthew 5-7; 1 Corinthians 6:9-11; Galatians 5:19-21. • Rules restrain fun!

  12. What is the answer? • Train your children – Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4; Proverbs 13:24. • Preach the gospel – 1 Corinthians 1:20-25. • Expose error – Ephesians 5:7-12. • Joyfully accept our place – Deuteronomy 4:39; 6:24.
