  3. Background • Luke was a Gentile Christian, • Born in Antioch Syria • He was an Evangelist • He wrote in Greek • He died in Boeotia Greece • He wrote the third and longest Gospel

  4. Time of the Gospel • The Gospel of Luke was written between 80 – 100 AD

  5. To whom it was written • The Gospel of Luke was written to a certain Theophilus, which is Greek for a lover of God. • It is not known if Theophilus was a real person. • The Gospel is a historical account of Jesus.

  6. Image of Jesus • Luke portrays a compassionate Jesus • A Jesus who is the Savior and reaches out to people, especially the poor. • A Jesus that does daily good deeds
